Hints & Tips

Sizing Digital Images for HPS Competitions.

Digital image entries for all Halifax Photographic Society competitions adopt
the Yorkshire Photographic Union and PAGB rules on sizing, file format and
title format. For confirmation of these rules you can check the YPU website.
These are currently as follows;

Maximum Image Size in Pixels
Width = 1600 x Height = 1200.
Images that are less than the maximum in either direction may be filled
with colour, design or texture to form a boarder.

Colour Mode & Space
This should be sRGB.

File Format Type
This should be JPEG format, images compression should be NONE and all
layers should be flattened.
NB. File size and resolution does not matter.

Titles
Each image must be numbered, must have a title and the authors initials
in the following format;
2_Sky_At_Night_SG.jpg

To Resize and Format Images
Go to IMAGE > …IMAGE SIZE
Tick …CONSTRAIN PROPORTIONS
Tick … RESAMPLE IMAGE.
Change Width to 1600 pixels.
IF height is then ABOVE 1200 pixels change this to 1200 pixels.
